How to remove wrinkles in your impact screenUpdated 2 months ago

If installed correctly, over time, your screen will naturally smooth out any wrinkles that may have appeared at first, but if you want to speed up the process, here are some effective methods:

Let Gravity Do the Work

Time, screen weight, and gravity will gradually relax fold marks after installation. This process can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on how long the screen was left folded.

Use a Steamer:

A clean, consumer-grade steamer filled with distilled water can effectively smooth out wrinkles and fold marks. This method speeds up the process while helping to prevent water stains on the fabric.

Adjust Your Screen Tension

Hang the screen tight enough to remove most folds and wrinkles but loose enough to absorb ball strikes. If you’re using Indoor Golf Shop ball bungees, adjust the number of bungees as needed to find the right mix of tension.

A tighter screen will have more bounce-back but experience less wear over time. A looser screen absorbs impacts better and reduces bounce-back but will wear faster. Experiment to find the right balance for your setup.

Here are some other tips for adjusting screen tension:

Check Frame Dimensions – Before tensioning, ensure your frame is assembled correctly. Measure its outer dimensions and compare them with your cut sheet. Misaligned pipes can create uneven tension, so confirm all pipes are inserted properly into fittings.

Secure the Screen with Ball Bungees – Attach ball bungees across the top first. These will bear most of the screen’s weight, so they should be secure.  It's a good place to start.

With patience and the right care, your screen will smooth out for a clean, professional look!
